PRESENTACIÓN
DEL PROGRAMA |
En el marco del Programa
de Movilidad Académica Internacional (PROMAI) que desarrolla ÁPICE,
invitamos a participar en el Programa de Intercambio de docentes de América
Latina y el Caribe, el cual se desarrollará con Niagara
University (Miembro Asociado de APICE) en Estados Unidos.

Within the framework
of the program on academic mobility (PROMAI), APICE and Niagara
University (an Associate Member of APICE) would like to invite
you to participate in the Exchange Program for Teachers from Latin America
and the Caribbean.

La Asociación
Panamericana de Instituciones de Crédito Educativo, APICE, fundada
en 1969, es un organismo internacional y sin ánimo de lucro, integrado
por entidades públicas, privadas o mixtas.
Las actividades de
APICE se concentran en torno a dos línea temáticas: la financiación
de la educación superior y la internacionalización de la
educación superior. Para el desarrollo de tales actividades APICE
cuenta con seis unidades y dos centros:

Con el propósito
de promover la internacionalización de la educación superior
APICE desarrolla el Programa de Movilidad Académica Internacional,
PROMAI, mediante el cual se establecen convenios con organismos internacionales
y con instituciones de educación superior en el ámbito internacional.
The Pan-American
Association of Student Loan Institutions, APICE, was founded
in 1969. It is a non-profit international agency, made up of private,
public and mixed entities.
The activities of
APICE are focused on two lines according to subject: financing of higher
education and internationalization of higher education. In order to carry
out these activities, APICE has six units and two centers:
- Research and Technical
Studies Unit.
- Advising and Consultancy
Unit.
- Training and Updating
Unit.
- Unit for Communications
and Publications.
- Unit for Management
of Funds.
- International Academic
Mobility Unit.
- Documentation
Center.
- Information Center
of APICE, CIAP.
In order to promote
the internationalization of higher education, APICE carries out the program
on international academic mobility (PROMAI), which allows establishing
agreements with international agencies and with institutions for higher
education at an international level.

PRESENTATION
OF NIAGARA UNIVERSITY |
Niagara
University was founded in 1856 by the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians).
In the years since its founding, NU has retained this tradition of emphasis
on both the liberal and useful arts and sciences while it has grown into
a mid-sized university of approximately 2,600 undergraduates, 800 graduate
students, and about 750 students enrolled in continuing and community
education.
Every
degree program at Niagara University combines a general education component
with a distribution component and a major component. This triad is intended
to overcome the fragmentation of disciplines which professionalization
generally entails and to encourage in the student a process of integration
and consolidation as well as expansion of the mind and spirit.
The
Diversity Committee and the Latin American Studies Program at Niagara
University have the objective of inviting scholars, from different Latin
American Countries to visit NU, and bring the riches of Diversity to our
campus. At the same time the Latin American Studies Program is sending,
to different countries of Latin America, professors that would like to
experience the richness of culture of the Spanish-Portuguese speaking
countries.

To
promote the exchange of academic and cultural experiences and to strengthen
regional integration through the exchange of highly qualified teachers
among the institutions members of APICE in the American continent.

PARA DESARROLLAR EL INTERCAMBIO |

El profesor debe suministrar
una lista de temas específicos sobre los cuales desee desarrollar
unos de los programas durante su visita a la Universidad.
Para el taller el
docente debe solicitar con anticipación los materiales que se van
a usar, es recomendable hacer presentaciones que tengan material audiovisual
y enviar la información bibliográfica a la universidad con
antelación, si se quiere que los estudiantes tengan algo preparado
para la clase.
En caso de ser una
conferencia, se debe preparar un tema de interés general a la que
podrán asistir tanto profesores como estudiantes.

Etapa
1: Un profesor de Niagara University se traslada a la institución
educativa (IES) ubicada en América Latina y el Caribe, la cual
organiza la agenda del docente respecto a actividades académicas
(seminarios, clases, cátedra, talleres, conferencias, etc)
y actividades culturales (recorridos cortos por las zonas de interés).
Etapa
2: Posteriormente un profesor de América Latina y
el Caribe visita Niagara University, institución que se hace
responsable de organizar su agenda académica (seminarios, clases,
cátedra, talleres, conferencias, etc) y cultural (recorridos
cortos por las zonas de interés).
APICE
coordina de forma general el programa, recibe las solicitudes de las
IES de América Latina y el Caribe, y las presenta a Niagara
University.
| DESCRIPTION
OF THE PROGRAM |
Stage
1: A professor from Niagara University travels to the educational
institution (IES) in Latin America or the Caribbean, which organizes
teachers’ agenda concerning academic activities (seminars, classes,
lectures, workshops, conferences, etc.) and cultural activities (short
trips around areas of interest).
Stage
2: Later on, a professor from Latin America or the Caribbean
will visit Niagara University, which is responsible for organizing
his/her academic agenda (seminars, classes, lectures, workshops, conferences,
etc.) and his/her cultural agenda (short trips around areas of interest).
APICE
coordinates the program in general. It receives the applications from
the IES from Latin America and the Caribbean and presents them to
Niagara University.

- Recepción
de solicitudes:

- Publicación
de resultados: Se realizará
el día jueves 20 de Agosto de 2009 en la página. Así
mismo se notificará vía correo electrónico a la
Institución seleccionada para ser anfitriona y a las que presentaron
los docentes candidatos.
- Inicio
del programa:
El profesor seleccionado de Niagara University se desplazará
a ALC en el mes de septiembre del 2009. El docente seleccionado de ALC
debe iniciar su visita técnica a Niagara University en el mes
de octubre. Las fechas exactas se estableceráne ntre los docentes
seleccionados.

In addition, it will be notified by e-mail to the institution selected
to be the hostess and to those who presented teachers-candidates.
- Beginning
of the program: The professor from Niagara University
selected will travel on September. The professor from ALC selected will
begin his/her technical visit to Niagara University on October.

Nota:
Los tiquetes aéreos deben ser pagados por el profesor, este es
el único costo que el docente debe pagar para el intercambio.

los gastos de alojamiento y alimentación, recepción en
el aeropuerto y transporte interno durante el desarrollo del programa.
2. Coordinación
general de la visita mediante la organización de la agenda académica
y cultural.

Note: The professor
will pay for his/her own ticket. It is the only cost from the part
of the professor for this exchange.
